Steven Tyler Trying Not To Swear On Live 'Idol' Shows

Steven TylerSteven Tyler is worried his excitement about the talent on the current series of American Idol could land him in trouble - because he'll happily curse on live TV if he enjoys a performance.

The Aerosmith rocker has become an instant hit on the TV talent show for his supportive comments and outlandish quips.

However, the star fears TV executives could soon lose faith in him because he's convinced he'll swear during the show's live stages.
He tells New York Post gossip column Page Six, "I really love Idol. There's a lot of talent and some great kids out there. Now we are seeing 15-year-olds who seem like they are 28. We are taping live now, and I am trying not to swear, but sometimes you've just got to be emphatic. If someone is f**ing good, I'm going to say it."

Rihanna Talks Eminem And Domestic Violence & Shows A Little Leg In UK Marie Claire

Rihanna

I expect the usual scripted response along the lines of there being nothing left to be said. What I don't expect is the rare level of honesty and personal insight Rihanna is willing to volunteer. In turns, listening in will be both uncomfortable and inspiring but in the end what emerges is not only a unique picture of the reverse side of celebrity but Rihanna's desire to tell her story of domestic abuse, only too aware there are many others who share and are going through the same kind of suffering.

Are you a different person now? I repeat. "Yes," she answers with surety. "I was very lost. I have to say I felt really confused. It was really strange because..." Her eyes begin to well up then she scolds herself for being upset. "Aaagh!" she exclaims outloud. "I hate talking about it but it was really crazy because I felt so out of touch with myself and when that happens..."

Rihanna

She's struggling through the sentence but is determined to continue. "It's scary because nothing you say or do feels like it's you. You just lose touch of everything that you love and everything that you would normally do; how you would dress or how you would say something... It just feels like it's not coming from you. It's just this one empty vase. I felt like an empty vessel." Tears fall down her face but she tells me it's alright. "I'm just… I feel like... I smile for real this time.

"'Eventually, I remember waking up one day and I knew I was over it. One day. I remember I was in New York at the Trump Hotel and I woke up and I just knew I was over it."

Rihanna

With all that she's been through, some critics have questioned her recent appearance on the Eminem single, "Love The Way You Lie" and how, in their view, it glamorises domestic violence. Rihanna has no regrets. "He [Eminen] confronted himself on it. He basically gives insight into what goes on in the mind of a couple in a domestically violent relationship. I love that in every verse it just gets to that point where she wants to leave, she wants to leave, she leaves, she leaves, she leaves... but then the hook always comes back and it's like, 'I love it. I love it.' That's not what you think when it's happening. You know you don't like it but you're staying, so it's almost like you must love it because you're not leaving."

Did she relate to that on a personal level? "Absolutely. Absolutely! Every word in that song is true. It would take somebody who's been on the inside to understand how magical those lyrics are. Everybody loves the song but the lyrics can never hit home until you've seen it, witnessed it, in your home or experienced it yourself."

Lawlor shows fighting maturity, getting easy win at UFC 121

Tom Lawlor is a very good grappler but between his poor execution in the cage and too much partying outside it, he was facing a winless 2010. Before his fight against Patrick Cote, Lawlor cleaned up his life and joined a more professional training camp in New England. The moves worked wonders as Lawlor took Cote down anytime he wanted. He breaks a two-fight losing streak with a unanimous decision victory, 30-27 on all cards, in the opening preliminary bout on Spike.

It was a perfect matchup for Lawlor. But only if he played to his strength. His two losses this year came because he tried to slug it out too often with Aaron Simpson and Joe Doerksen. Lawlor got tired in those bouts.

Making sure this one hit the deck was the plan. Lawlor (7-3-1, 3-2 UFC) scored a takedown 1:03 into the first and then two more in the second. It was more the same in the third when it took just seven seconds to get Cote on his back.

Cote's a good example of what used to work in the UFC in 2006 and 2007. Elite fighters could survive as one-dimensional fighter. The slugger from Montreal simply hasn't improved his game-planning or takedown defense. Now he's facing termination with the promotion after losing his second straight. Cote may get a reprieve because this was just his second fight in the last 25 months. Cote (13-7, 4-4 UFC) has struggled to comeback from the effect of several major knee injuries.

UFC 121 undercard results (Courtesy MMAjunkie):

Jon Madsen def. Gilbert Yvel via TKO (punches) - Round 1, 1:48.
Chris Camozzi def. Dongi Yang via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28).
Sam Stout def. Paul Taylor via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 30-27).
Daniel Roberts def. Mike Guymon via submission (anaconda choke) - Round 1, 1:13
